A major response operation is underway following a light aircraft crash landing in Wexford.
The aircraft, believed to have been carrying four people, crash-landed shortly after 5pm on an area of strand near Carnsore Point, which is just south of Rosslare Harbour.
All emergency services are understood to have been involved in the incident
Although there has been no confirmation in regards to how many people were on board the aircraft, it’s believed to have been carrying three passengers and a pilot.
No details in regards to injuries have been made available yet but a number of people have been removed to Wexford General Hospital by both ambulance and Coast Guard helicopters.
Initial indications have suggested that the hospitalisations are purely precautionary.
Speculation suggests that the single-engined light aircraft encountered mechanical difficulties while flying over the Irish Sea.
According to one source, the pilot exhibited great skill in managing to crash land on the strand.
