Woman’s body discovered by pedestrian on shoreline in Galway town

An investigation is currently underway after the body of a woman was discovered by a pedestrian in Kinvara, Co. Galway.

The individual discovered the body while walking along the shoreline of the town at approximately 11:30am.

Authorities responded to the scene and the woman’s body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway.

Gardaí responded to the scene at Doorus, north of Kinvara.

Assitance from the fire service was then required to help reach and recover the remains.

Units of Galway Fire and Rescue Service responded at approximately 1:30pm to assist with recovering the body.

The local coroner has been notified and the Office of the State Pathologist has been requested to conduct a post-mortem examination.

Efforts are currently underway to identify the woman while gardaí are awaiting the results of the post-mortem, which will determine the course of the investigation.
