Woman (50s) dies following severe collision in Monaghan

Gardaí are investigating a fatal car collision that occurred this morning in Monaghan.

The single-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 5am this morning on the Roslea Road out of Clones.

During the collision, a woman in her 50s was fatally injured, according to gardaí.

The woman is understood to have been a passenger who was travelling in the vehicle.

Two men aged in their 20s and a woman in her 30s were taken to Cavan General Hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries that they sustained following the collision.

Motorists who travel on this road have been advised that a section of it remains closed to allow for a forensic examination to take place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.

They are also urging any road users in possession of dash-cam footage of the incident to contact them.
