Teenage brothers sentenced for rape of 17-year-old near holiday park in Wexford

A teenage boy has been sentenced to five years detention after raping a 17-year-old when he was 14-years-old.

The teenage boy then forced the victim to have sex with his older brother, who was 17-years-old.

The incident took place at night in a field near a holiday caravan park in Wexford in front of a group of boys.

The two brothers pleaded guilty in May to raping the girl.

The judge today said the victim was preyed on and the “terrifying and violent” experience continues to have an effect on her life.

He said both defendants knew the girl was in a distressed and vulnerable state and was not consenting to sex.

The judge sentenced the younger brother to five years detention and sentenced the older brother to seven and a half years, with 18 months suspended.

The victim said she is terrified of 99% of men, including her own father and brother as a result of the incident.
