Man arrested following anti-vaccine protest in Dublin

A man in his 30s has been arrested following a protest that was organised by anti-vaccine campaigners in Dublin.

The protest took place on Saturday afternoon in Dublin city centre at O’Connell Bridge.

A few hundred protesters gathered at the Daniel O’Connell Monument and blocked the O’Connell Bridge as a result.

The protest was part of the “World Wide Rally for Freedom” which took place across the globe.

The protest only required the deployment of regular Garda units as they were not observed as a threat to the peace, eliminating the necessity of the Public Order Unit.

The man was arrested for public order-related offences and was later released without charge.

No other incidents were reported following the protest.
