Boxer Manny Pacquiao to run for Philippines presidency

Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao will run for president of the Philippines next year.

Pacquiao accepted the nomination of his political allies during the national assembly of the faction he leads in the ruling PDP-Laban Party.

“I am a fighter, and I will always be a fighter inside and outside the ring,” Pacquiao said.

“I am accepting your nomination as candidate for president of the Republic of the Philippines.”

Pacquiao is rallying against corruption in the Government and what he calls President Rodrigo Duterte’s cozy relationship with China.

Duterte challenged Pacquiao by urging him to name the corrupt Government offices to prove the his accusations.

Pacquiao responded by warning of jail for corrupt Government officials.

“Your time is up”, Pacquiao said.
