‘Hugely disproportionate’ number of ICU patients are unvaccinated – Reid

According to HSE chief Paul Reid, the number of patients being treated in ICU has risen to 71 with a “hugely disproportionate” number of patients being unvaccinated.

In a tweet made by Reid, he states that “It’s never too late to be vaccinated”.

However, there has been a reduction in the number of people receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19, which has fallen to 261 from yesterday’s figure of 288.

Increasing Covid-19 figures have led to the set up of a temporary test centre in Drogheda and although it’s not a walk-in centre, an appointment can be booked online.

Meanwhile, Minister for Further and Higher Education Simon Harris has announced that pop-up vaccination centres will be introduced on many college campuses later this month.

These vaccination centres will be operating in addition to a plan to ensure that vaccinations can be accessed through student GP services.

Harris also announced that 83% of people aged 16 to 29 years old are partially vaccinated while 79% are fully vaccinated.
