TV star and musician Drake Bell has spoken out for the first time since he pleaded guilty to child endangerment and was convicted with said charges.
The 35-year-old was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service on the 12th of July.
Bell posted a video on Instagram where he explains the situation and provides his perspective on the ‘false claims’ made against him.
“Most of the news you’ve heard recently is entirely false and wrong.”
He offered an explanation to some of the claims that he has regarded as being false, “I didn’t change my name. Although I would love to, I’ve never moved to Mexico, I’ve never been a resident or a citizen of Mexico. I don’t have a Mexican passport. I didn’t get arrested, I didn’t go to jail.”
He added that it’s not just himself who is describing the claims as false but that the state of Ohio has also proven them to be false.
Bell stated that if the claims were true, the situation would have been entirely different while adding, “I am not perfect, and I make mistakes.”
He claims that nothing physical took place between himself and the victim, and ended the conversation as soon as he discovered what age she was.
“It was reckless and irresponsible text messages. I want to make clear there were no sexual images, nothing physical between me and this individual.”
Bell concludes the video by saying that he’s sorry for any harm that was caused to the victim and anyone else who was affected by his actions.
