Italian Government to require all workers to present ‘Covid pass’

Italian workers in both the public and private sector will have to present a ‘Covid pass’ to access their workplace from October 15th.

Health Minister Roberto Speranza said: “The Green Pass is an instrument of freedom, that will help us make workplaces safer.”

”The second reason is to reinforce our vaccine campaign,” he continued.

These measures will be among some of the strictest in the world.

Workers face a fine of up to €1,500 if they do not comply, while employers face a fine of up to €1,000.

The measures will remain in effect as long as Italy remains in a state of emergency, which is currently until December 31st.

Three-quarters of the Italian population are currently fully vaccinated.
