COVID-19: Vladimir Putin self-isolating after virus detected in entourage

Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently self-isolating after certain members of his entourage fell ill with Covid-19.

The 68-year-old was due to travel to Tajikistan for high-level meetings of the CTSO and SCO regional alliances, with Afghanistan being the main focus.


Putin, who is fully vaccinated, has been described as being “absolutely healthy” by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

He didn’t clarify how long the Russian president would remain in isolation, however, he assured that Putin will continue working as usual.

Peskov also added the Putin had tested negative for the virus.


It’s understood that Putin will be self-isolating as a result of coming into contact with an individual who tested positive for the virus.
