Man in critical condition following assault in Cork city centre

Investigations are ongoing after a man was seriously injured following an assault in Cork city yesterday evening.

The incident occurred on Oliver Plunkett Street between 6pm and 7:30pm.

The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition, according to gardaí.

Investigators in Anglesea Street Garda Station are currently investigating the assault and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing to any road users in possession of dash-cam footage who were travelling in the vicinity of Grand Parade/Oliver Plunkett Street at the time of the incident to make the footage available to them.
