Appeals court reinstates DeSantis mask mandate ban for Florida schools

The First District Court of Appeals on Friday reinstated Ron DeSantis’s ban on Florida school district’s imposing mask mandates for children.

The court ruling now allows the State to go after Florida schools financially who decide to impose mask mandates.

“1st District Court of Appeals just granted the State of Florida’s request to reinstate the stay — meaning, the rule requiring ALL Florida school districts to protect parents’ rights to make choices about masking kids is BACK in effect!,” a spokesperson for DeSantis said.

The ruling comes two days after DeSantis filed an emergency appeal after a circuit judge banned DeSantis’s measure to prevent schools from imposing mask mandates.

The Florida Governor has argued that the decision to make children wear masks should be made by the parents of the children, and not the schools.
