‘Distinct minority of Americans keeping U.S from overcoming Covid-19’ – Biden

US President Joe Biden has said there is a “distinct minority of Americans” to blame for preventing the United States from overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic.

“A distinct minority of Americans supported by a distinct minority of elected officials are keeping us from turning the corner,” Biden said.

In a televised address to the nation, Biden announced a wave of new vaccine requirements which will ultimately impact 100 million Americans.

The move aims to increase the level of vaccination across the country, which has a low vaccination rate relative to developed countries.

The rules mandate that all employers with more than 100 workers require them to be vaccinated, or test weekly for the virus.

The US President further announced a wave of supports and grants in Covid-19 testing kits, schools, health care facilities etc.

Biden is also calling on entertainment venues and arenas to require vaccinations or proof of a negative test to gain entry.
