Woman in her 20s arrested as part of investigation into death of 4-year-old boy in Limerick

A woman in her 20s has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the death of a four-year-old boy in Limerick earlier this year.

The woman is currently being detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.


The young child suffered fatal injuries at a house in Rathbane in Limerick on Saturday, March 13th.

The boy was rushed to University Hospital Limerick and then was transferred to Cork University Hospital.

He was later transferred to Temple Street Children’s Hospital, where he passed away on March 16th.


The new arrest follows two arrests made in August in relation to the incident.

Gardaí have issued no further information at this time.
