Taoiseach Micheál Martin has defended Leo Varadkar after an image went viral on social media of Varadkar attending a music festival in London, saying he was ‘entitled’ to attend the event.
Varadkar was criticised after he was pictured at the Mighty Hoopla music festival in London last weekend.
The Taoiseach yesterday brushed off criticism of Varadkar, saying it was a matter for the Tánaiste.
“First of all, I think what the Tánaiste does in his private time is a matter for the Tánaiste,” Martin said.
“I don’t intend to comment one way or the other in relation to that, or in relation to any other individual who has their private time for themselves.”
“I’ve made my position clear on this. I have a particular view of these things and my view is that the Tánaiste, in his private time, is entitled to do… that’s it. It’s a matter for him,” the Taoiseach continued.
