90% of adult population to be fully vaccinated in the coming days – Donnelly

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said that 90% of the adult population in Ireland over the age of 18 will be fully vaccinated in the coming days.

Donnelly said that 88% of those over the age of 16 are fully vaccinated, while 83% of those over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated.

70% of the total population is now fully vaccinated.

Donnelly went on to say that there are a lot of school children self-isolating as close contacts, but this is as a result of the high levels of virus in the community.

He continued to say that the public health response is working and children are being successfully identified.

He further said the positivity rates among the secondary school population are reducing.
