Details of the UK’s major planned operation for when Queen Elizabeth II dies has been revealed.
Poltico has had complete access to the plans, codenamed ‘Operation London Bridge’.
The security plan outlines everything which will take place for 10 days following the Queen’s death, from how the Queen’s death will be addressed to the public, to how the social media accounts will be handled.
Politico reported that the day the Queen dies will be labeled D-Day. The 10 days that follow will be labelled D+1, D+2 and so on.
In the hours following the Queen’s death, a call cascade will take place, informing the Prime Minister and a number of senior Ministers of the news.
The royal household will issue an “official notification” delivering the news to the public.
Politico also reported that the 95-year-old Queen is in good health and there is no suggestion these plans have been addressed with any urgency.
The prime minister will be the first member of the government to issue a statement, while all other government members will be told not to comment.
A national minute’s silence will then be announced.
