Ireland has the highest Covid-19 incidence in the EU – ECDC

Ireland currently has the highest Covid-19 incidence in the European Union (EU), according to the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC).

Cyprus had been holding the top position, but according to the most recent data, Ireland has taken the lead.


The 14-day incidence is currently 504 cases per 100,000.

The EU average is currently 199 cases per 100,000.

A further 1,414 cases of Covid-19 has been reported in Ireland today.


There are currently 353 patients in Irish hospitals with Covid-19, with 55 in ICU.
