The release date for a new upcoming documentary about Oasis’ 1996 Knebworth concerts has been announced. Tickets go on sale from the 10th of August, which marks the 25th anniversary of the concert’s first night.
The documentary called ‘Oasis Knebworth 1996’ is executive produced by band members, Liam and Noel Gallagher and directed by Jake Scott.
The concerts, which were the biggest shows ever played by the rock band, saw over 250,000 eager fans flock to Knebworth House for two consecutive nights on the 10th and 11th of August 1996.
It was reported that 2.5 million people applied for tickets for the two shows, which included The Charlatans, The Prodigy, Manic Street Preachers and The Chemical Brothers on the bill.
While announcing the film’s release date, lead singer Liam Gallagher stated, “Knebworth for me was the Woodstock of the 90s. It was all about the music and the people. I can’t remember much about it, but I’ll never forget it. It was Biblical.”
The documentary is scheduled for release on the 23rd of September.
