Cabinet is meeting today to finalise reopening plans for ending the remaining Covid-19 restrictions.
Government is hoping to end all Covid-19 restrictions on October 22nd, except for the use of a face covering in certain circumstances.
It is believed that Government hopes to scrap all restrictions by this date if a 90% vaccination target can be met, and if incidence of the virus is stable or falling.
If restrictions are approved by Cabinet today, restrictions imposed by Government will be strongly reduced and a focus on personal responsibility will be promoted.
Restrictions for the wearing of face coverings in certain circumstances will likely remain, such as on public transport or in shops.
Cabinet will today finalise plans and will agree on the reopening roadmap.
The Taoiseach will then address the nation this evening, detailing the revised roadmap to easing Covid-19 restrictions.
