Limerick teenager dies while on holiday on Greek island

A teenager from Limerick has died while on holiday on the island of Ios in Greece.

The young man, who is aged in his late teens, is believed to have died after sustaining a fatal head injury.


The Limerick Post reported that the teenager had holidaying with a group of 20 friends at the time of the incident.

The victim has been named locally as Niall O’Brien.

A man has since been arrested following the incident and Police say an investigation is ongoing.


The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance to the family of the teenager.

A post-mortem is scheduled to take place in the coming days.
