Man in his 20s dies following collision in Louth

Investigations are ongoing following a fatal car collision that occurred in Co Louth last night.

The incident occurred shortly before 11pm last night on the Carstown Road in Drogheda.

It’s understood that the car had left the road and subsequently collided with a tree. Following the collision, a 29-year-old man and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene is currently undergoing an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

GardaĆ­ are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

They are also urging any road users in possession of dash-cam footage who were travelling on the Ballymackenny Road or Carstown Road at approximately 11pm last night, to make the footage available to them.
