Following a government meeting today, it’s looking likely that live events will be returning from a date in September.
This comes as there was quite a significant amount of support for the phased resumption of the sector in September following the Cabinet Committee on Covid-19.
It’s understood that communions and confirmations will also return in September.
A meeting will be held by the committee next Monday to finalise the details.
During the discussions, which lasted almost four hours, the committee was given a thorough presentation on the current Covid-19 situation in the state, where they heard that 87% of over-18s are now fully vaccinated.
Some elements have already been agreed upon, however, the remainder will be finalised on Monday.
Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan stated that there was broad agreement amongst ministers on the committee for a phased reopening of the country over the next two months.
Although he would not detail the specific restrictions that will be eased, he stated that he expects public transport to return to full capacity, as well as progress in regards to communions and confirmations.
