Northern Ireland has the highest Covid-19 infection rate in the United Kingdom.
Currently, the North has an infection rate of 579.5 cases per 100,000 people, the highest it’s been since January.
Fermanagh and Omagh has the highest rate of any local authority in the UK, with 1,003.9 cases per 100,000 people recorded in the seven days to August 18th.
Likewise, Northern Ireland has the poorest Covid-19 vaccine uptake across the UK.
60.8% of the population in the North is fully vaccinated, compared to 62.4% in England, 65.5% in Scotland and 69% in Wales.
On Monday, there were 352 patients in hospitals in the country with Covid-19, with 43 in ICU.
