Four dead following Galway collision

Four people have been killed following a road collision in Galway.

The multiple-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 7:40pm yesterday on the M6 at Poolboy, Ballinasloe.

The four people were pronounced dead at the scene following the collision and their bodies have since been removed to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe to undergo post-mortem examinations.

The scene currently remains under examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, which has resulted in both lanes of the M6 between Junction 14 and 15 being closed. Local diversions have been implemented.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact gardaĆ­.

Road users in possession of dash-cam footage who were travelling on the M6 at Poolboy yesterday evening have also been urged to contact gardaĆ­.
