Roadmap for easing of Covid-19 restrictions to be announced on August 31st

The updated roadmap for the easing of Covid-19 restrictions in Ireland is set to be published on August 31st.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) will hold a meeting next Wednesday and provide their recommendations for the easing of restrictions.

The Covid-19 sub-committee will then meet next Friday to discuss NPHET’s recommendations and ultimately create an updated roadmap of easing restrictions.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said that the roadmap will be “comprehensive”.

“We will be going into a new era of the management of Covid-19, but there will always be a need for personal responsibility in the coming months,” Martin said.

“The overwhelming message from today’s meeting is that the vaccination is highly impactful in giving protection as it is preventing people from going into hospital and ICU.”

It is expected that Taoiseach Micheál Martin will address the nation on August 31st with the updated roadmap of easing Covid-19 restrictions.
