Man arrested after two Garda cars set on fire at Dundalk Garda Station

A man in his 30s has been arrested after two Garda vehicles were set on fire at Dundalk Garda Station in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí are investigating an act of criminal damage after the incident took place around 2:30am.


The scene has since been technically examined.

The arrested man is currently detained at Dundalk Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí have said their investigation is ongoing and service has not been disrupted.


Gardaí in Dundalk have been subject to attacks in 2019 and 2020, and attacks of members of Gardaí at their homes have also been reported.
