POLL: Which of these TV shows had the most significant impact on your life?

We would be surprised by the impact that all of the TV shows we have watched in the past have had on us.

Would it be inaccurate to suggest that small pieces of our personalities have been crafted by our favourite TV shows?

Depending on the genre and the realism that surrounds the show, we can even relate to some of the characters involved and the main plot that they are faced with.

Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders have definitely had a significant impact on many people’s lives, the question is which one had the most significant impact?

In Breaking Bad, we’re dealing with the main character who has been, by society’s definition, a loser his entire life.

Fuelled by his resentfulness, Walter White goes from an average high school chemistry teacher to one of the best meth cooks in America, while taking out anyone who crosses his path.

Granted, we don’t all become meth cooks when we’re tired of living a certain way but the idea of changing your life because you grow sick of the way that you’re currently being treated can be quite relatable to many.

In the case of Peaky Blinders, the Irish audience may relate to the show as it centres on an Irish-Romani gang living in the UK.

With the main character Thomas “Tommy” Shelby being played by the instantly recognisable Irish actor Cillian Murphy, it can have an immediate effect on an Irish audience.

The Shelby family attempt to make a name for themselves by entending their empire outside of Birmingham, where the show is based.

Again, the gangster lifestyle may not be entirely relatable but the idea of growing/expanding on an idea such as a business and being ambitious enough to go after it can definitely strike a chord with a lot of people.

Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders both express a similar theme, and that theme is growth. In Breaking Bad, Walter White grows into Heisenberg while Tommy Shelby grows an empire that extends outside Birmingham.
