Almost 65,000 children between the ages of 12-15 have already registered for a Covid-19 vaccine on the online portal.
HSE CEO Paul Reid said this morning that over 80% of adults in Ireland are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Yesterday, the vaccine portal opened for people aged 12-15, with parents or guardians being required to register their children.
Public health doctors are particularly urging parents of medically vulnerable children to get them vaccinated. All parents are being urged to read information from reliable sources before vaccinating their children.
Reid said that many of the young people who have registered have already received their first vaccine appointment for the weekend, and vaccine centres will open late next week as the rollout continues through the younger age cohorts.
People can still register for a Covid-19 vaccine via the online portal. When going for a vaccine, people will need to have access to; PPS number, Eircode, phone number, email address and photo I.D.
