Two men charged with the alleged rape of a man on O’Connell Street in Dublin

Two men have appeared before court charged with the rape of a man beside the GPO in Dublin.

The court was told the man was allegedly attacked on O’Connell Street and then raped in a nearby alley.

The two accused, men aged 23 and 26, are from Eastern Europe and were charged with raping the victim, who is in his 20s.

The incident allegedly took place in the early hours of Monday morning.

A passing Garda patrol car saw the incident taking place and ultimately intervened.

Bail was refused for both of the accused due to them being a flight risk.

The Judge remanded them in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next week.
