CNN has fired three employees who came into work unvaccinated against Covid-19.
CNN chief Jeff Zucker sent a memo to staff reminding them that vaccines were mandatory if they report to the office or out in the field where they have contact with other employees.
“In the past week, we have been made aware of three employees who were coming to the office unvaccinated. All three have been terminated. Let me be clear – we have a zero-tolerance policy on this,” Zucker said.
Zucker also confirmed that a planned company-wide return to the office has been delayed until at least October, due to rising infections across the US.
Other companies have also implemented a mandate for staff to be vaccinated before they return to office, including Disney, Google and the NFL.
President Joe Biden also confirmed that all federal employees will need to be vaccinated, or take part in a weekly testing programme.
