Three people arrested on suspicion of murder after 5-year-old boy found dead in river in Wales

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 5-year-old boy was discovered dead in a river in Wales.

South Wales Police were called at 5:45am on Saturday to a report of a missing child in Bridgend.


Police Officers attended the scene and discovered the boys body in the Ogmore River.

Police confirmed on Sunday that a 39-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman and a 13-year-old boy have all been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police are currently not searching for anyone else at this time.


After the boys body was recovered, he was taken to Princess of Wales hospital where he was confirmed dead.

An investigation is ongoing surrounding the circumstances of the child’s death, and Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them immediately.

The Chief Inspector said: “This is a tragic incident in which a young child has sadly lost their life.”

“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has any information, to get in touch.”
