Murder investigation launched after the death of a child in Belfast

Police in Northern Ireland have made an arrest and launched a murder investigation after the death of a child in North Belfast.

Emergency services had taken two children to hospital after what is understood to be a domestic stabbing incident in the Ardoyne area.


Police later confirmed that a child had since died.

A woman was arrested after the incident occurred.

“Police have commenced a murder investigation following the death of a child in the Brompton Park area of north Belfast this evening and made one arrest in relation to this,” a Police spokesperson said.


“The investigation is at an early stage and further information will be provided in due course.”
