Six people rushed to hospital after funfair ride collapses in Antrim

Six people were rushed to hospital following a funfair ride collapsing in Northern Ireland.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Carrickfergus, Antrim shortly before 6pm following reports of the ride collapsing.


Three children are among those taken to hospital.

However, it is understood that no indivudal taken to hospital has life threatening injuries.

A number of other people who were on the ride suffered minor injuries, but did not require hospital treatment.


The funfair was immediately closed after the incident occurred.

A spokesperson for the funfair said: “Important update. Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, Planet Fun will be closed tonight for the 7.30pm to 10.30pm session.”

“All tickets will automatically be refunded. Further updates will follow.”
