British health minister Sajid Javid tests positive for Covid-19

British health minister Sajid Javid has tested positive for Covid-19.

The health minister, who has been fully vaccinated against the virus, stated that his symptoms were mild while adding, “I was feeling a bit groggy last night, so I took a lateral flow test this morning and it’s come out positive, so I’m now self-isolating at home with my family until I get the results of a PCR test.”

Javid, who has only been on the job since June 26th, will now self-isolate for ten days unless he gets a negative PCR test or no longer displays symptoms.

This news comes as England prepares for its final lifting of Covid-19 restrictions which is to go ahead on Monday.

The reopening is to go ahead against the advice of many scientists who believe that the reopening along with the recent surge in cases will endanger the NHS.

Yesterday, Britain recorded over 50,000 cases which is the first time since mid-January.

Despite such a significant increase is cases, the British government insists that with two-thirds of the adult population now fully vaccinated, the risk can be managed.
