Ricky Gervais brilliantly responds to poll saying he should host Emmys 2021

Comedian Ricky Gervais has responded to a poll that suggested he should host the 2021 Primetime Emmy Awards.

As the awards are to take place this September, viewers were given the option to vote on the next host.


Some of the options included RuPaul Charles, Neil Patrick Harris and Queen Latifah. Gervais won 58% of the voters’ support while Stephen Colbert followed second.

Gervais expressed his reaction to the poll on Twitter by stating “F*** that”.

Ricky Gervais is no stranger to hosting awards ceremonies as he has hosted the Golden Globes five times, where his quick wit and controversial humour remained unrestricted, ripping into celebrities and their personal lives.


Recently, Gervais has been filming the third series of his show ‘After Life’ which finished production last month, with Gervais tweeting “Day 36 on #AfterLife3. And that’s a wrap.”

Despite the fact that Gervais stated that the 2018 Golden Globes would be his last, his recent tweet has suggested that he will not be hosting this year’s Emmys.
