Majority of Covid-19 restrictions in England will be eased next week

Almost all remaining Covid-19 restrictions in England will be eased next week, on July 19th.

British health minister Sajid Javid urged people to remain vigilant even after restrictions are lifted, noting that a rise in cases shows the pandemic is not over.

“Thanks to the shared sacrifices of the British people and the protective wall of our vaccination programme, we have made huge advances,” Javid said.

“We firmly believe that this is the right time to get our nation closer to normal life… It’s the start of a new phase of continued caution.”

Javid is urging people to continue to wear face coverings in crowded areas and avoid mass gatherings unless fully vaccinated.

England will be the first British nation to lift the requirement of face coverings and social distancing.
