From today, the EU Digital Covid-19 Certificate will be issued to approximately 1.9 million people who have been fully vaccinated across the country.
This pass, which will be sent through email or post, will permit any individual who is fully vaccinated to travel within the EU and EEA for non-essential reasons.
This pass will also allow individuals to travel for non-essential reasons if they present proof of a negative PCR test or have recovered from Covid-19 in the last six months.
If an individual has recovered from Covid-19 in the last six months, they must contact a call centre to request a certificate.
Anyone who receives a negative Covid-19 test will be issued a cert from the testing facility.
The certificate will have a QR code that can be scanned at airports and ports. The certificate will display an individual’s vaccination status, test result or recent recovery from Covid-19.
For vaccinated individuals, the cert will contain details of the vaccine they received, how many doses they received and the dates on which they were received.
Minister of State Ossian Smyth stated that the majority of certificates will be issued before the 19th of July.
People who don’t have a certificate by this date will still be permitted to travel for non-essential reasons once they present proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test result.
