Israel to offer third Pfizer vaccine to vulnerable adults following rise in Covid-19 cases

Israel has announced the country will begin administering a third Pfizer vaccination to adults with weak immune systems.

The Delta variant has caused Covid-19 cases in Israel to rise in recent months.

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz has said that adults with weaker immune systems will be offered a booster Pfizer vaccine effective immediately.

Pfizer/BioNTech announced this week that they will seek authorisation of a booster vaccine in Europe and the US.

The companies noted an increased risk of infection after six months of full vaccination for the booster shot.

Israel is currently deciding whether to offer a booster vaccine to the general public.
