Labour’s Ivana Bacik tops Dublin Bay South poll and looks set to take Dáil seat

Ivana Bacik of the Labour Party looks set to take the Dáil seat following the Dublin Bay South by-election.

Bacik leaped ahead of Fine Gael’s James Geoghegan and looks likely to maintain that position.

James Geoghegan was the favourite going into this by-election due to Fine Gael’s dominance in Dublin Bay South throughout the years.

Bacik is a Labour Senator and has ran for the Dáil on a number of occasions without previous success.

The win will represent a massive victory for Labour, who will now have seven TD’s on the benches.

However, this would be a significant defeat for Fine Gael, who have lost the seat following Eoghan Murphy’s resignation.
