Today is the final day people will be able to apply for the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP)

Today is the final day people in Ireland will be able to apply for the pandemic unemployment payment (PUP).

The welfare system was set up at the beginning of the pandemic to cater for those who lost their employment as a result of the pandemic.

All recipients of the payment are also being asked to confirm their continued eligibility by Tuesday July 20th.

This can be done by logging onto the MyWelfare portal or by contacting the Department of Social Protection.

The payments will continue at their current rates until September 7th, where they will be cut by €50.

Anyone who loses employment from today is being asked to apply for a Jobseeker’s payment.
