COVID-19: Here are the restrictions being eased from today

Although indoor hospitality, which was due to reopen today, has remained closed, there are a certain amount of restrictions that will be eased from today.

Outdoor events will predominantly be allowed to accommodate 200 people, while organised events at venues that can hold 5,000 people will be allowed to have 500 attendees.

Up to 50 people can now attend a wedding reception from today which is double the original amount, however, religious ceremonies such as communions and confirmations will remain suspended.

In regards to international travel, the EU Digital Covid Certificate (DCC) is expected to be operational in the state from the 19th of July.

The deadline for new entrants to apply for the Pandemic Unemployment Payment has been extended to the 7th of July while businesses that remain closed during the pandemic will be permitted to make a claim for additional payments from the Covid Restrictions Support Scheme for two weeks.

This scheme will also be amended for a double week payment to be allowed this week which will remain within the statutory cap of €5,000.

From today, individuals aged 18 to 34 will be administered the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine while the same age group can log on to the vaccine portal and choose whether they want the AstraZeneca vaccine or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from July 12th.

No limit will be placed on indoor meetings providing the individuals are fully vaccinated, this also applies to people who have recovered from Covid-19 in the past nine months.
