Patience urged as pharmacies say phones constantly ringing following vaccine announcement

The HSE has urged people to be patient with pharmacies regarding booking their Covid-19 vaccination.

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly announced that from next Monday, 18-34-year-olds will be able to book their Covid-19 vaccine with a participating pharmacy.

Initially this age cohort will be able to avail of the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

“Be patient particularly with the pharmacies that we’re going to be delivering this. There is a limited supply of the Janssen at the moment also in relation to AstraZeneca we have around 100,000,” Damien McCallion of the HSE said.

“But we are anticipating over this weekend to get confirmation of additional supply for AstraZeneca, and confirmation for Janssen.”

Pharmacists around the country have been reporting that they have been receiving endless calls from the public regarding the vaccine booking.
