Hazel Fitzpatrick (25) has pleaded guilty to posting a photo of Boy A during the Ana Kriégal murder trial. Boy A was sentenced to detention for life with a review after 15 years for the murder of 14-year-old Ana Kriégal.
Boy B was sentenced to 12 years with a review after eight years but is now appealing his conviction.
Both Boy A and B were 13 years old at the time of the murder which gave them the legal right to anonymity.
Fitzpatrick pleaded guilty before the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to posting a picture of Boy A on Facebook in contravention of the Children’s Act 2001 within the state on or about the 19th of June, 2019.
The court was told by Anne-Marie Lawlor SC, who was defending Fitzpatrick, that her client had no previous convictions and asked the court to direct a report from the Probation Services in the circumstances, to which Judge Melanie Greally agreed to order.
In the case of any victim impact implications being present, Judge Greally would direct a victim impact statement on a non-prejudiced basis.
Ms. Fitzpatrick was remanded on continuing bail and adjourned the matter for sentence on the 4th of November.
