Fianna Fáil TD calls for €150 to be given to young people who get Covid-19 vaccine

Fianna Fáil TD James O’Connor has called for Government to give young people born since 1996 €150 if they receive a Covid-19 vaccine.

O’Connor raised fears over vaccine hesitancy among young people in Ireland.

Similar incentives have been launched in countries around the world, with Greece giving young adults and teenagers a €150 voucher if they get vaccinated.

The Government’s updated plans on reopening announced on Tuesday have been criticised by many, including young people who will largely be unable to dine indoors for the summer as they will not be vaccinated.

Under revised plans, only those who are fully vaccinated will be allowed to dine indoors, a move which has infuriated many in the hospitality sector.
