The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director has said that fully vaccinated people are safe from all the current Covid-19 variants.
Rochelle Walensky went on to say that fully vaccinated people do not need to wear face coverings.
Some, including the World Health Organization (WHO), have said that mask wearing should continue after vaccination as a precaution due to the rise of the Delta variant.
However, Walensky has said that the CDC’s guidance has not changed and that fully vaccinated people do not need to use face coverings.
“If you are vaccinated, you are safe from the variants that are circulating here in the United States,” she said.
She said the WHO is issuing such guidance to nations who have an overall low vaccination rate, and because the United States has a substantial share of the population vaccinated, they are in a safer position to continue as planned.
