Over 340,000 vaccines administered last week

According to HSE chief executive Paul Reid, there was over 340,000 Covid-19 vaccines administered last week.

He stated that over 52,000 vaccines were administered on four of the last seven days with 59,000 being administered on Thursday.

The vaccine registration portal opened for people aged 35-39 while 47,000 people aged 39 registered on the portal yesterday according to Reid.

Today, the vaccine portal will be open for 38-year-olds with the remaining ages 37, 36 and 35 being able to register over the subsequent days.

There has been approximately 3.5 million doses administered so far, however, the aim is to administer 4.5 million doses by the end of June which may fall short by about 500,000 doses but the target is hoped to be reached a few weeks later than planned.

As there hasn’t been a vaccine delivery update published since May 12th, it’s unclear how fast the rollout can go.

In regards to those aged 20-29, the vaccination portal will not be open until the end of July or beginning of August according to the HSE’s latest update meaning this age group will not be fully vaccinated until September.
