Man in his 60s dead following assault in Dublin

A man in his 60 has died following an assault last night at a house in Firhouse, Co Dublin. Gardaí responded to the incident at Carriglea View at approximately 11:50pm where he was pronounced dead a short time after.

His body remained at the scene until this morning while a technical examination was carried out by investigators and a post-mortem will be carried out later on today. It is believed that the man was stabbed during the assault.


It is understood that the man was living with a number of people at the house. Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s in relation to the incident and is currently being detained at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The man in his 30s was visiting the house when at approximately 11:50pm, the man in his 60s was assaulted and killed.

The incident is currently being treated as a domestic case as it appears the victim and the man being detained are related.


Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Carriglea View area of Firhouse between the hours 11:30pm and 12:30am to come forward.
