Mass search operation for Irishman missing in US to be scaled back

The mass search operation for a 27-year-old Irishman, who was last seen hiking in Wyoming (US), is to be scaled back.

Cian McLaughlin was last seen on Tuesday, 8th June, in Grand Teton National Park.

The National Park service said today the search operation for McLaughlin will be scaled back after days of extensive searching.

Park staff will continue to search for Cian McLaughlin and any new tips will be investigated.

Mass search efforts have been taking place daily since he was reported missing, with over 70 staff each day searching and over 45 helicopter search missions took place.

“Some of these efforts included navigating steep, technical terrain in hazardous areas. Many of these areas require rope, an ice axe, crampons, and other protective equipment to access,” park officials said.

Anyone with any information or tips is urged to contact 888-653-0009.
