The restaurant staff were attacked with glass bottles and chairs as fights spilt out onto the streets outside the venue with video footage of the incident circulating on social media.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30pm last night where it’s understood that four young people were causing a disturbance and threw glass bottles at the restaurant workers according to a garda spokesman.

Several other staff members responded to the attack and pursued the group down the street. The altercation was halted after bystanders intervened to break up the fight.

GardaĆ are continuing to investigate the incident.

A number of violent incidents have occurred on South William Street earlier this month which resulted in the Garda Public Order Unit being deployed, members of which were also attacked with glass bottles by groups of youths.
